Make this creamy, savory smoked salmon dip using store-bought smoked salmon. It is a quick appetizer perfect for brunch or parties, ready in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon minced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon capers, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (taste first, as smoked salmon is salty)
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning for topping

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the chopped smoked salmon, lemon juice, horseradish, minced red onion, fresh dill, capers, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a fork or an electric hand mixer on low speed to combine all ingredients until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Do not overmix.
  4. Taste the dip and add a small pinch of salt if needed.
  5. Transfer the smoked salmon dip to a serving bowl.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle the top with a little extra dill or everything bagel seasoning, if desired.
  8. Serve your easy smoked salmon appetizer with crackers, bagel chips, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, you can use a food processor, but pulse briefly to avoid making the dip too thin.
  • If you prefer a stronger salmon flavor, use 6 ounces of smoked salmon instead of 4.
  • This dip is excellent served alongside smoked salmon crostini for brunch gatherings.
