1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (14.5 ounce) can green beans, drained
1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 1.5-quart baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
Stir in the drained green beans and 1/3 cup of the crispy fried onions into the soup mixture.
Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of crispy fried onions over the top.
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Let the casserole stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prepare this simple baked side dish up to one day ahead. Cover and refrigerate before baking. Add 5 to 10 minutes to the initial baking time if baking from cold.
For a Southern green bean casserole variation, substitute fresh or frozen green beans for canned beans and add 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese to the bean mixture.
